Comment: On 8th February 2002 I was able to visit the old Midland Grand Hotel at St Pancras. This is a view taken from the Ladies Smoking room back along the hotel frontage.

We started the tour in the main entance lobby - this is the doorway into the rest of the hotel...

... and the corridor takes you to the foot of main staircase. Notice that the 'two-tone' colouration of the outside is repeated in the arches.

This is the foot of the main stairs. A lot of these picture were taken without flash - hence the glare from the windows and the emergency lighting.

The view from the bottom of the main stairs looking up. The fancy ironwork under the stairs is in fact plaster (if I remember correctly). Notice the wyvern boss on the wall at top left.

Close up of the wyvern as well as the 1st floor arches and stair brackets. Notice that the carving on each arch is different.
