28th December 2001 was a special birthday for Karen, so I did a little bit of decorating...
The sight that greeted Karen when she came downstairs on her birthday. A strange mixture of Birthday and Christmas...
..and then she saw the table, balloon and another banner. Please notice the extremely interested cat! (Duffy)
A fine selection of presents and cards waiting to be opened.
Including this present which reminded her in no uncertain terms which birthday it was! This turned out to include lots of individually wrapped presents relating to 1961, including newspaper, stamps and wine.
The big present was from Karen's brother and partner and turned out to be this lamp with snooty cats.
   
   
   
   
   
There was no money left for a cake, so this was the best we could manage - 40 years but only 1 candle!
As Karen's birthday is 28th December, the Christmas tree was still up, so it's been included in here. Notice there was *another* fine set of presents under the tree!
